At Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board, we are committed to building and sustaining a faith-filled, inclusive and equitable working and learning environment for all learners and staff.

To support the Ensuring Equity and Valuing Relationships strategic priorities of the Board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan, PVNC is set to launch a comprehensive staff census. This work is informed by . This will be the Board’s first workforce survey that will ask staff questions about barriers they may have experienced in the workplace and that will collect identity-based data directly from our employees.

This page provides information and resources to help respondents of the 2022 PVNC Staff Census understand census questions so that all staff may feel confident responding to the survey.

Your voluntary participation in the Staff Census is important to us in order to better learn about and serve our PVNC community. The higher the completion rate, the more reliable the information will be to help us identify and remove systemic barriers.

Diversity is growing in communities all across Ontario at a fast pace. We want to make sure our schools and workplaces are ready to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse demographic now and into the future and ensure all students and employees feel safe, included and welcome in PVNC and have the opportunity to thrive.

PVNC respects the privacy of our staff. Data will be collected in a secure manner as directed by applicable privacy legislation and best practices.

PVNC is firmly committed to maintaining the confidentiality of individual respondents’ data obtained through the staff census survey. Reports will never single out or identify an individual. Data will only be reported in a summarized way to highlight our community’s needs.

All survey administrators shall keep completely confidential the respondents identity, all information or opinions collected, and any information about respondents learned incidentally. Individual responses or data potentially traceable to an individual will not be shared for any purpose.

Background

Many school boards have conducted a staff census. In fact, the and require school boards to gather and report this data. 

In Fall 2021, we launched the first ever PVNC Student Census, which collected identity-based data directly from students and parents/guardians. That rich data has had immediate impact, as it has painted the clearest picture to date of some of the obstacles and challenges facing our students for a variety of reasons including race,  gender identity and accessibility. 

Since analyzing those results, we have put that data to work informing our . This student data is currently driving much of our equity work in key areas. 

PVNC 2022 Staff Census to launch Oct. 24, 2022 

The PVNC 2022 Staff Census will launch on the Oct. 24, 2022 PA Day and all staff will be given dedicated time to fill out the survey. The census will remain open for participation until Nov. 1, 2022 at 4 p.m.
